Bandari coach chuffed at win over Gor Mahia

Bandari FC coach Bernard Mwalala was delighted with a win against Gor Mahia in their Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match played on Tuesday 7 August at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa.

Dan Guya and Yema Mwana scored the two early goals for the dockers with Gor Mahia finding the back of the net from Rwandese forward Jacques Tuyisenge’s strike late in the second half.

“I must commend all my players for playing the game with determination and team spirit. I also congratulate them for following my instructions and keeping their concentration levels high,” said Mwalala.

Bandari were reduced to ten men with five minutes to the end of match when their defender Fred Nkata received second yellow card but the home side remained unshaken, inflicting first defeat to the defending champions since October 2017.

Despite the loss,K’Ogalo remain perched on the top of the standings with three games at hand while Bandari move to the second position, eleven points adrift the 16 times champions.

Bandari play Tusker in their next match in Ruaraka Stadium in Nairobi on Sunday before welcoming sugar belt based outfit Nzoia Sugar ten days later.
