ZESCO UNITED FC PLAYERS DENIED BOARDING SA FLIGHT
ZESCO United football Club wishes to advice that four (4) players were denied boarding the South African Airways flight at Simon Mwansa Airport yesterday, Thursday, 16th August 2018 due to Visa problems.
The players denied entry were:
1. Jesse Jackson Were
2. Enock Sabumukama
3. Dieudonne Ntibahezwa
4. Marcel Kasongo Kalonda
However, Davie Daka, Wingstone Kalengo, Samson Banda and Edward Tembo have since replaced the four and have joined the team in camp.
The four players were part of the team that was selected to travel to Manzini eSwatini Kingdom in the return leg of the Group D of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) against Mbabane Swallows scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, 18th August 2018 at 15:00hours.
During the 2018 pre-season training period in South Africa, the four players were declared prohibited immigrates by the immigration authorities due to the two extra days the team spent in that country. ZUFC, however, appealed the decision on arrival to relevant authorities and we are yet to be advised on the outcome. Since the game will be played in eSwatini, and not in South Africa, the issue of the Visa did not arise when making travel arrangements.
ZUFC is therefore, engaging the mission in South Africa to ensure that travel arrangements for future engagements are not affected.
