Gor Mahia just a win from 17th KPL title after Sofapaka triumph

Kenya premier league leaders and defending champions Gor Mahia are just a win away from defending the league title after a comfortable 3 -0 sweeping  of Sofapaka in a KPL match played this evening in Narok.

Joachim Oluoch put the green army ahead in the 43rd minute before Innocent Wafula stretched the lead converting from the spot after Sofapaka keeper Wycliff Kasaya has committed a foul on Lawrence Juma .Kasaya was sent off after getting the second yellow card with Kigonya replacing him

Sofapaka piled pressure but could not penetrate the Gor Mahia defence and it was Gor that added the third via Samuel Onyango killing any hopes of a comeback

Coach  Dylan Kerr opted to start with a completely different team to that which lost to Rayon Sports opting for his second string side

The win sends Gor Mahia to 68 points after 27 matches same as second placed Bandari and AFC Leopards who have 48 points each .

Gor Mahia need only a win in their next KPL match which is the derby clash against AFC leopards to win the league with 6 matches to go .

After the derby ,Gor Mahia will fly to Algiers ,Algeria to take on USM Alger in a top of the table CAF Confederations clash .USM who will also take on Hussein Dey in the Algiers derby the same day Gor plays AFC Leopards are second in Group D behind Gor
