USM Algers angered by CAF over time change

USM Alger vs Gor Mahia

Ahead of the do or die CAF Confederations cup clash between Kenyan champions Gor Mahia ,Algerian giants USM Algers have raised concerns criticising CAF for refusing to have their crucial match played at 1700hrs local time .

The Confederations of African football rejected USMA’s request to have the match played at 1700 hrs with CAF insisting on the 1400 hrs time .

According to a USM official who spoke to sokafrika on phone ,the time is not favourable for them as it will be around 35 degrees celsius compared to between
22-26 if it was to be played between 1700-2100hours
“This is going to disadvantage us so much
considering that we will be minus our five dependable players ,the last time we played at such an unbearable time was when we played to a 2-2 draw with DRC side AS Union Maneama and I tell you we have never won is such high temperatures. ”

” This is going to be a tough match but with the change of time ,we are afraid that we may not get what we want “He told sokafrika

All the CAF group matches for USM Algers have been played between 1700-2100 hours  but its CAF  that holds the rights to alter dates and time for group matches .

USM Alger needs nothing short of victory against Gor Mahia to proceed  to the quarters with Gor Mahia only in search of a scoring draw to storm into their first ever
quarter finals of the new CAF Confederations .

Rayon Sports will welcome already eliminated Young AFRICANS of Tanzania in a match that will see the Rwandese side progress if they win

Meanwhile, a 21 man Gor Mahia squad led by CEO Lodvick Aduda have safely landed in Algiers ,Algeria .
