Kenya withdraws from hosting Cecafa senior challenge ,cites lack of funds

The Council of East and Central Africa Football Association 2018 Senior Challenge Cup scheduled to take place in Kenya will no longer take place after host nation Kenya withdrawing

Through the Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa, Kenya will not host the 2018 CECAFA  Senior Challenge Cup citing lack of resources and inherited debts. Speaking to the press at the federation’s offices on Tuesday 28th August, Mwendwa had this to say;

“We won’t host CECAFA (Men Senior Challenge) this year. This is because the federation is trying to cut down on costs. We incurred a lot of debts from the previous regime and we are looking to settle these”.

The development therefore means that the CECAFA leadership will have to settle on a new host for the 2018 Senior Challenge Cup, Kenya are  currently the defending champions.
