The Ethiopian Football Federation, EFF, have confirmed that the 2018/19 Ethiopian Premier League season will kick-off on Saturday, October 27.

Jimma outfit Jimma Aba Jifar will look to defend their title after wrestling the crown from record champions St.George on goals difference last season.

However, all 16 Ethiopian Premier League teams will have to wait a further week or two to find out who they will play in the opening weekend.

Colonel Awol Abdulrahim , EFF vice president, said other activities scheduled for the months of September and early October include ” Pre-season seminar & spot checking on clubs’ compliance to early milestones of licensing regulations like of status of facilities.” in a statement issued to Sokafrika Reports.

Last season, the topflight league had been postponed multiple times following a directive by the government over security concerns.
