Sony Sugar Football Club Assistant Captain Enock Agwanda has once more been feted Kenyan Premier League August player of the Month in a ceremony held on Thursday 20th September at the Awendo Green stadium.
In the month of August Sony Sugar Football Club won three against Thika United, Ulinzi Stars and Kariobangi Sharks Football Clubs before drawing against Tusker Football Club. The inform striker was the center of execution netting four goals and an assist in all the matches ,His stellar performance in the month of August made him beat off competition from fellow competitors for the award.
For his great performance the former Gor Mahia and Bandari forward walks home with a 49 inch LG television set, a personalised trophy and one hundred thousand shillings while the team will receive fifty thousand shillings for their collective effort.
Agwanda who’s commonly referred to as “Jowi” by fans becomes the first ever Kenyan Premier League player to win back to back player of the month accolade. In his submission Agwanda said
“It wasn’t an easy decision to rejoin Sony more so after many people had written me off. But the results are there for everyone to see. We were in a difficult position when I came back but we have already made the impossible possible,”
“It is a great feeling to become the first player to win this award twice. I thank God for everything and the coach for instilling confidence in me. Our target still remains to flnish top five.” He concluded
On his part Sony Sugar head coach Patrick Odhiambo lauded his striker saying ”
“I thank God for his (Agwanda) recognition. He deserves it and it is a morale booster to the team. We had targeted top five and we believe it is still achievable. Destiny is in our own hands”.
