AWCON 2018 mascot unveiled
The official mascot for the 11st edition of the Africa Women Cup of Nations was unveiled on Friday 28 September in a colourful event held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
Nicknamed Angrohemaa, the mascot is a female eagle spotting a yellow shirt over red shorts, representing the colours of the national team hosting the tournament, Ghana.
Present in the occasion was Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Asiamah among other dignitaries.
The AWCON 2018 tournament will kick-off from 17 November to 1 December in Accra and Cape Coast. CAF Executive Committee has maintained Ghana as the hosts after evaluating preparations for the tournament.
Ghana is hosting the tournament for the first and are joined by 9 times champions Nigeria.
South Africa, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Cameroon and Algeria will all participate in the competition.
