Gor Mahai have advanced to the next round of CAF Champions League after edging out Nyasa Bullets on post match penalties.
In a nervy slow first half of the match staged in Blantyre,Kamuzu Stadium host Nyasa grew much into the encounter with unending attempts in a bid to draw a first half lever to get back on level and in contention for a qualification spot but disappointingly their opponents held firmly with a draw much to their favour seeing off the match all tied for the halftime breather
Upon resumption for the final half of the encounter,Nyasa threw in all their might and as fate could have it, Bullets big moment was on the 55th minute just ten minutes into the second half when danger man Msowoya pulled a long cracker that found Gor Mahia’s custodian Boniface Olouch flatfooted sending thousands of Bullets fans into a frenzy, a lead that they pressed on in search for the elusive win.

Six mintues left on regular time with the match seemingly headed in for penalties,Gor Mahia new man Shafiq Batambuze was judged to have fouled Msowoya right inside the 18-yard area after an aerial ball duel that was adjudged wrong by the centre referee leading to a penalty award. With thousands of the home fans much in the wait for his shoot to send them through, Chiukepo stepped up but his strike wasn’t weighty enough to get the better of Boniface Olouch who saved the penalty much to the silence of the fans in the stadium and relief to a handful of Gor Mahia faithfuls.
With the match having ended on one all aggregate, this thus meant the two sides were to square it out from the spot kick,Gor Mahia converted their kicks through Kasarani hero Banard Ondiek,Humphrey Mieno Harun Shakava and Boniface Omondi while Nyasa’s goals were scored by Msowoya,Yamikani Fodya and John Lanjesi with Miracle Gabeya and Pilirani Zonda missing out from the spot,Gabeya’s kick was saved by Olouch while Zonda’s attempt hit the woodwork to send Gor Mahia thorough to the next round.
