Kenyan representatives Gor Mahia thrashed visiting Lobi Stars 3:1 in a CAF Champions League match on Sunday 16th December.
In a match staged at the Kasarani stadium, Gor Mahia started off their campaign with an early goal from Rwandan striker Jacques Tuyisenge whose hard on taken shot went in past Lobi Stars keeper Ospina Egbe just seven minutes into the encounter
Gor the better side of the match could have doubled their lead 4minutes later with keeper to beat,Samuel Onyango’s low drive was paired off for a corner kick that wasn’t fruitful.. Moments later on the stroke of 23rd minute, Gor Mahia’s attacking prowess bore dividends when winger Samuel Onyango lashing onto a lose ball at Lobi defence with a bicycle kick doubling K’ogalo’s lead .
Lobi Stars made a quick substitution just after 28 minutes into play bringing on Monsuru Bashiru for Umar Zango a move that paid off immediately with a corner kick well taken in by Kwambe Solomon,whose delivery found Mathias Martins rightly placed making no mistakes pulling one back for Lobi Stars.
On a quick restart, barley 5 minutes upon celebrating a goal back ,Lobi Stars found themselves behind yet again with Samuel Onyango’s solo effort, dribbling off past his markers to slot in God’s third of the evening
In a largely dull second half of the duel,Gor continued with the pressing and were narrowly unlucky after Tuyisenge lobby past advancing Lobi Stars keeper Egbe Ospina with his touch missing out by a whisker.Lobi’s several attempts bore no fruit as Gor held on firmly to a convincing 3:1 victory
The win now puts Hassan Oktay men a foot into the group stages of CAF Champions League 2018/2019 tournament.
