Tusker,Mathare,Sony win Gor humbled as KPL 2018 calender wraps up

Kenyan Premier League 2018 calendar ended on some high with Tusker Fc, Mathare United and Sony Sugar Fc registering wins while the  big surprise being witnessed at Kasarani Stadium where champions Gor Mahia were humbled by Kariobangi Sharks .

In matches staged across the country,Tusker got off to a winning note in an early kick off registering a 3:1 thumping of bankers side KCB in Machakos. Tusker who were largely the dominant side made no long waits  getting the first of the day just five minutes of play through Lyold Wahome before moments later being cancelled out by Simon Abuko’s effort. Sydney Ochieng would then restore Tusker’s lead after twenty minutes of play before Timothy’ Otieno late strike with ten minutes to play  sealed Tusker’s comfortable win. In Awendo hosts Sony Sugar registered second successive win coming off from an early setback to pull a 2:1 win over Zoo Kericho. Dennis Chetambe shocked host with an early lead just after six minutes of play. Derrick Otanga  rightly placed headed in Agwanda’s long throw to pull Sony back level before second half substitute Stephen Onyango thunderbolt with twenty minutes of play left  was all enough to secure Patrick Odhiambo’s side second successive win.

In Nakuru,Mathare United continued with their impressive start into the season getting better of mail men Posta Rangers to 2:1 win. Reigning midfielder of the year Cliff Nyakeya and former Kenya International Kevin Kimani ensured Kimanzi’s side victory while Dennis Ongeri got one back for Rangers. In Awasi ,hosts Chemelil Sugar picked up their first full points with an easy win over Mount Kenya Fc,Felix Oluoch and Martin Oundo goals were enough for  Francis Baraza’s men wrapping up the year on some good ending.

In Kasarani, the biggest surprise of the weekend was witnessed in a match Sharks played host to defending Champions Gor Mahia. Sharks who early in the month had stunned K’Ogalo in the same venue to lift the Super Cup made it a double with an one nil scoreline thanks to Duke Abuya’s strike in the first half while down coast the country, visiting power men Western Stima pinned dockers Bandari Fc to one all draw at the Mbaraki Stadium. John Mukhisa and Wycliffe Ochomo were on target for both sides respectively.

Winding up the weekend saw Afc Leopards held to a barren draw by Vihiga Untied, Sofapaka Fc were also tied to a two all draw by Ulinzi Stars while Kakamega Homeboyz played out to one all draw with Nzoia Sugar in Kakamega.

With the weekends results, Slum boys Mathare United and freshly promoted side Stima will be at the helm of the table on 10points each,Kariobangi Sharks and Bandari Fc come in third and fourth respectively on 8points while Tusker Fc,Kakamega Homeboyz and Sony Sugar Fc both on 7points while at the bottom Mount Kenya United are rooted with no points while Kenya Commercial Bank are second from bottom on a point.
