Kenyan side Gor Mahia have been dealt a huge blow heading into CAF Confederations week.
With quest to make it to the group stages of CAF Confederations Cup,Gor will have to do without key center backs in Joash Onyango and Captain Harun Shakava.
According to the clubs website a letter from CAF disciplinary committee which reads the two have been suspended following a review on centre referee’s match report. Of the two, captain Harun Shakava has been suspended following a physical altercation with Lobi Stars keeper while his counterpart Joash Onyango for use of abusive language to center referee.
” We remind you that the referee report is authoritative regarding incidences that occurred on the field of play. The referee reported to the Disciplinary Board that the following player(s) was (were) cautioned – Samuel Onyango, Jacques Tuyisenge, Joash Onyango, Haron Shakava, Mustafa Francis and Humphrey Mieno,” reads part of the letter.
The letter further warns Gor Mahia against fielding the two until the issue is resolved.
““Therefore you are kindly requested to note that both Gor Mahia players no. 12 and no. 18 are provisionally suspended from taking part in CAF inter-clubs matches until the submission of the case to CAF Disciplinary board in its next meeting January 13.”
Gor tactician Hassan Oktay will have to use available options in Charles Momanyi, Pascal Ogweno and Joachim Oluoch at the back for the match .
