Nkana run riot against San Pedro to put one foot in group phase
Ronald “Sate Sate” Kampamba opened the scores as Kalampa’s recorded big win over the Ivorians.
Nkana put one foot in the group phase when they beat Ivorian side FC San Pedro 3-0 in the CAF Confederation Cup Playoff Round first leg encounter played at a packed Nkana Stadium.
Crowd-favourite Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba opened the scores in the 43rd minute from a brilliant cross by 42-year old defender Joseph Musonda who was slotted in at left-back in place of Ben Adama Banh who was filling in the centre back position for suspended Musa Mohamed.
The veteran African Cup of Nations winner then went on to add a second in the 50th minute before substitute Festus Mbewe who came on for captain Walter Bwalya added a third late on in the 86th minute.
San Pedro were unable pose any real danger for the home side who could have scored more goals but were let down by Bwalya’s poor aim at goal.
“Les Oranges” will be hoping to overturn their 3-0 deficit when they host Nkana at the Stade Auguste Denise in San Pedro next weekend in the decisive second leg fixture.
