Titto Okello on target as Vipers close the gap at the top.

Micheal Ouma’s side bounced back from two draws against URA FC and Mbarara city FC to win at home against Aggressive Kirinya Jinja SS .

Sports club Vipers eased past Kirinya Jinja SS  on friday  to close the gap at the top of Startimes uganda premier league table to three points

 

Before this game Vipers were coming back from two consecutive draws of their rescheduled matches against URA FC and Mbarara city FC.This time Vipers wanted to set the tone early when Innocent Wafula  pounced on a loose ball in the 10th minute only to be denied by  Kirinya’s  Intelligent Allan Drajua.

With 20 minutes played Joel Madondo had his efforts from a teasing header saved by Fabien Mutombora and later booked for  his late challenge on vipers goalkeeper .

Vipers kept on knocking on school boys door but Interim boss Abby Kikomeko  boys looked solid at the back within the first quarter of the game.

With 6 minutes left for referee Brian Miiro Nsubuga to blow the whistle for halftime , Vipers broke the dreadlock  when Titto Okello tapped in a sensational cross from Abram Ndugwa  after a good build up by Innocent Wafula.

 

Two minutes into the second half  Kikomeko replaced Dan Ssewava with young energetic Fred Amaku .On the other hand Vipers repried by introducing Rahmat Senfuka for goal scorer Titto Okello.

And Kirinya’s only chance  came with only 20 minutes left play when Mutombora misjudged a corner  kick only to be saved by Man of Match Livingston Mulondo who cleared the ball off the line.

In the 85th minute ,pressure to bag  three points kept on mounting on the kitende side  and they found themselves in a heated brawl and  Wafula appearered to headbut Isma Kawawulo  and but the referee wasn’t close to see the incident and instead dished out a yellow card to former Gor Mahia attacking midfielder .

Four minutes later Vipers defender Ibrahim Kiyemba received  matching orders after a second yellow card for time wasting . The venoms held their nerve to see out the game .

Vipers now trail Startimes table leaders KCCA by 3 points . KCCA sits at the summit of the Startimes uganda premier league table with 37 points from 16 matches and Vipers comes second  with 34 points.
