Muguna,Kahata cage Leopards in Mashemeji Derby.
Kenneth Muguna and Francis Kahata were on target in both halves to hand Gor Mahia a comfortable victory over arch rivals AFC Leopards.
In an only Kenyan Premier League match staged at Kasarani Stadium,Gor largely of the lively side in the encounter had a bright start and would have taken an early lead after a Jacques Tuyisenge attempt went off wide.
Muguna scores
With just quarter of the match done, champions Gor Mahia took the lead through towering Kenneth Muguna who controlled down well a Francis Kahat cross taking a low shot that went in past keeper Ndashimiye in goal for Leopards. Moments later in the 29th minute ,Muguna having a good afternoon pounced on a lose ball just 20 yards off Leopards box took a hard shot beating keeper Ndashimiye only to hit the crossbar. With five minutes to go for halftime break Gor surged forward Muguna linked up well with Boniface Omondi who then brought in a teasing cross only for Tuyisenge with much power on his touch heading off target.
In a quick response right into the final half ,AFC Leopards had a quick attack ,Kipyegon delivered in a quality cross which keeper Olouch failed to handle well landing on Wyvonne Isuza who’s quick attempt got cleared back into play by Joash Onyango.
Kahata’s goal
With just an hour played Gor Mahia scored the second goal of the match from a cheeky foul in play by Francis Kahata doubling K’Ogalo’s lead. Leopards tactician Casa Mbungo would then bring on into play Oburu and Marita to add in depth upfront but all largely didn’t work out with Gor Mahia holding on firmly for the big win.
The win now sees Gor Mahia placed third on 22points while Leopards a ppint off relegation places.
