Power claim bragging rights over Kalampa in Kopala Derby win
Nine-man Power Dynamos came out tops against crosstown arch-rivals Nkana in a fiercely contested and ill-tempered battle dubbed “The Kopala Derby” at Nkana Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Power opened the scores in the 15th minute through striker Alex Ng’onga before Cameroonian striker Christian Epoupa doubled the scores in the 68th minute to silence the home crowd.
Kalampa could have reduced the deficit in the 72nd minute when the referee pointed to the spot but Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba’s effort was saved by his former teammate at Power in Lawrence Mulenga who was also named MOTM.
The drama did not end there however as both scorers on the day,Ng’onga and Epoupa were both sent off after having played their part in a physical confrontation that broke out between the two rivals in the 75th minute.
Power have now moved into 6th place with 6 points after 4 games played.
