The 12-time Zambian champions are now in control of Group C after rallying to a 3-1 win over their opponents from Ghana on Sunday afternoon in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Ronald “Sate Sate” Kampamba returned to first-team action and scored a brace for his Kalampa side that emerged 3-1 victors over Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko at Nkana Stadium.
In-form Congolese attacker Fred Tshimenga opened the scores in the 21st minute from the penalty spot which was awarded to the hosts after defender Abdul Ganiu brought down Walter Bwalya in the penalty area.
However,Nkana’s lead lasted only two minutes as Burkinabe striker Yacouba Songné’s spectacular free-kick cancelled out Tshimenga’s opener.
Fan favourite Kampamba, who was returning to first-team action after missing last weekend’s 2-1 loss away at local rivals Power Dynamos, restored Nkana’s lead in the 26th minute after Walter Bwalya, who was lively in the encounter, capitalised on some shambolic defending from Kotoko to assist Kampamba.
Kampamba scored his second and third for his side on the day in the 53rd minute as he headed in right-back Gift Zulu’s cross to complete the rout for Beston Chambeshi’s men.
Nkana’s Ghanaian defender Richard Ocran who was up against his country club was sent off in the 73rd minute for a second bookable after he elbowed Kotoko scorer Songné.
Nkana are now top of Group C after three matches played with 6 points while Kotoko are rooted to the bottom with points 3 points while the other two teams in the group ZESCO United and Al Hilal who drew 1-all in Ndola later in the evening, occupy second and third positions respectively.
