Five-time Champions league winners Zamalek beat Kenyan champions Gor Mahia 4-nil at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria on Sunday night to go top of the group while Petro De Luanda also silenced Algerian side NA Hussein Dey via a 2-nil scoreline in CAF Confederation Cup.
First-half goals from Mahmoud Alaa and Youssef Obama sent the Egyptians into the half-time break leading by a 2-nil scoreline before Ferjani Sassi and Omar El Said completed the rout for Christian Gros’ men in the 84th and 86th minutes respectively.
Meanwhile,at the Estadio Do 11 Novembro in Luanda,Petro De Luanda returned to winning ways after their 1-0 loss at home last week to Zamalek as they rallied to 2-0 win over NA Hussein Dey with both goals coming in the first-half from Job and Brazilian star Tiago Azulão.
Zamalek are now top of the standings with 8 points in a group that has all four teams with a chance to progress heading into the final round of matches with all four teams needing a wins to be assured of qualification.
Petro and Hussein Dey who are second and third respectively have both amassed 7 points after five matches played and conclude their group phase campaigns with former away at Gor Mahia while the latter will be at home to Zamalek.
