African stars Pepe,Traore,Sarr for top French award
The nominees for the 2019 Marc-Vivien Foe Award have been revealed with the winner set to be revealed on May 12.
Named after late Cameroonian legend Marc-Vivien Foe,the award recognises the best performing African players in the French Ligue 1.
Favourite to win the award is Côte D’Ivoire international and Lille star Nicolas Pepe who has been in sensational form for Les Dogues scoring 18 goals and setting up 7 in the French top-flight while Senegalese youngster Ismaila Sarr of Rennes,Burkinabe international and Olympique Lyon forward Bertrand Traore and Saint-Etienne’s Tunisian midfield star Wahbi Khazri could also make a strong challenge for the prize.
The current holder of the award is Cameroonian international Karl Toko-Ekambi who won the award after a scintillating season at Angers last season before moving to Spanish La Liga side Villarreal.
