Gor humbled by resilient Nzoia as Oktay skips media press

KPL defending champions Gor Mahia were gunned down by a solitary goal at Mumias sports complex by hard fighting Nzoia sugar fc in a KPL mid week fixture this being the second time Gor is losing to Nzoia in the same stadium after knocking them out of GOTV shield cup by the same margin last season .

Hansel Ochieng well executed free kick is all that was needed to separated the two sides.

Gor Mahia started a better side creating numerous chances but couldn’t be utilized. The match generated into a fifty fifty affair later but on the 31st minute dead ball specialist Hansel rose to the occasion with a thunderous shot that keeper Odhiambo Fredrick could do little to save.

Gor who seemed to rest some of their key players ahead of the “mashemaji derby” were shaky in the second half with no urgency,Patrick Otieno’s 76th minute goal was ruled out for offside by the assistant referee amid protest from Nzoia fans.


“wish to congragulate Gor Mahia for winning the title in advance, its a good side and i wish them well,we played well we came for a win and we have won, it was all about motivation and focus despite the challenges we are facing we have to give our best and that’s wot we did” said Nzoia coach Godfrey solo Oduor in an interview

However his counterpart Hassan Otkay snubbed media interview after a section of Gor mahia fans turned their disappointment and frustrations on Media team, NTV reporter Jesse Mwasame and his cameraman being roughed up.

Earlier on Titus Maero of Nation media was also forced to flee after a group of fans turned rowdy
