Zoo Kericho head coach Herman Iswekha could afford a smile yesterday after his side survived a relegation scare this season.
Zoo surrendered a 0-2 lead to their hosts KCB in their last KPL match yesterday at Mumias sports complex a match that ended 2-2.Anami Derrick and Chetambe were on scoresheet for zoo in the 14th and 17th minutes while Mugambo Gabriel and Onyango Chrispinus replied for the bankers in the 38th and 68th minutes respectively.
The draw was a relief to Kericho based side that has had its good share of mixed fortunes this season struggling with goalkeeping and defense after releasing some key players last season.
Iswekha was delighted for the fighting spirit of his boys showed and thanked God for the results promising a better energized Zoo next season. “it has been a tight match and one of our toughest season,like today we conceded easily because we lacked concentration and recovery,KCB gave us a challenge it was really a good side but its good we have managed to remain the league now our focus shifts on strengthening and preparing the team for next season , we have struggled much in defense
and goalkeeping those being key areas we will work on ” said Iswekha in an interview.
Mt.Kenya and Vihiga are the teams that have so far confirmed their relegation from Kenyan premier league though Mt Kenya has a match at hand against Ulinzi a match that was not played yesterday after the teams uniform clashed. KPL has rescheduled the match to be played on Sunday 2nd June.
