Wazito FC are officially National Super League 2018/19 champions after thrushing Saint Joseph’s 7:1 Sunday 9th June 2019.
A Joe Waithera’s hat trick,Amos Assembeka’s brace, Acquah and Derrick Onyango goal a piece were all money bags Wazito needed to affirm Kenya Premier League (KPL) 2019/2020 status after a season long out.
In a rather chilly afternoon with just five minutes into the match man of the day ,Joe Waithera drew the first blood sloting in Wazito’s first of the day with an easy tap in finish from Derrick Onyango’s low cross. Seven minutes later Amos Assembeka doubled Wazito’s lead and before settling from the early setback , Ghanaian Acquah added third , Assembeka would then net the fourth leading to a four nil lead at halftime.
A dull second half got glitterd ten minutes into play with host Wazito leaving nothing short,a swift counter attack of trio Tedy Osok, Assembeka and Waithera would see the later rounding off Saint keeper for Wazito’s fifth. Former Gor Mahia forward with a chip added the sixth before Waithera scoring the seventh from the spot,Saint would then pull one back with four mintues of regular play left.
In Thika,high flying Kisumu All Stars had little mercy on already relegated side Thika United condeming them to a 1:6 thumping,in Eldoret,visiting Nairobi Stima made no mistakes beating host Eldoret Youth 2:4 to book a play off position while in Awendo host Migori Youth easily collected full points after there opponents Kangemi All Stars failed to turn up for the match.
The final day results sees Wazito and Kisumu All Stars promoted as Nairobi Stima books a slot in the play offs while Thika United, Kangemi All Stars and Green Commandos all relegated.
