Cameroon starts title defence covincingly with win over stubborn Guniea Bissau
Cameroon started their African Nations Cup Of Nations 2019 campaign on a high beating stubborn Guniea Bissau Tuesday evening in Ismailia Stadium.
The defending champions had to wait into the second half to get past stubborn defensive Guniea Bissau side in a closely contested affair. With pressure immensely high to deliver, the Indomitable Lions started convincingly with lots of attack upfront with Karl Toko and Bassogog Christian combining well but they could not break the defensive pair of Juary Saores and Mamadu Cande for Guniea Bissau leading to scoreless scoreline at half-time.
On resumption Lions pressure would then prove fruitful with two quick succesive goals proving vital for Clarence Seddorf side. Yaya Banana rose up high with a firm grip heading past Jonas Mendes in goal in the 66th minute and moments into celebratory mood,Stephane Bahoken would then double Indomitable Lions lead with a nicely taken tap in strike to hand the defending champions a convincing winning start into the 2019 edition.
Cameroon now tops group F with Ghana set to lock horns with Benin later in the night.
