Ghana and Benin played out to a 2:2 all draw in their opening Group F match Tuesday night in Ismailia Stadium, Egypt.
Ayew brothers strike and Mikael Pote’e brace was all enough for both sides sharing the spoils. Touted favourites, Ghana got an early set back just two minutes into match when Mikael Pote ran past Kasim Nuhu and John Boye to slot in Benins opener of the night and the fastest goal of the AFCON 2019. But six minutes later the Black Stars responded immediately through captain Andrew Ayew who beat off his marker to take a low drive shot right into back of the net past keeper Fabien Farnolle.
Boye’s red card
With five minutes to go,Ayew Jordan struck in for Ghana’s second of the match heading into the half-time. Early into the second half moment of madness would ensue,John Boye got his marching orders being booked for a second yellow card booking for time wasting.
Boye’s booking turned costly for coach Kwesi Appiah with his counterpart Michel Dussuyer throwing in Dossou and Mama for Moise Adielou and Sessi D’Almeida a move that proved fruitful pulling back a goal through yet again through danger man Mikael Pote who flicked in for the equalizer .
The match concluded round one of group matches and sees Cameroon toping group F on three points with Ghana and Benin each on a ponyp each while Guniea Bissau sits bottom of the group.
