Kenya beat neighbours Tanzania in five goal thriller securing their first win of the ongoing African Cup Of Nations Thursday night at the June 30 Stadium.
Taifa Stars started brightly taking the lead just 6 minutes into the match through Msuva who tapped in after Samatta’s shot was paired to his path by Matsai in goal for Kenya. Kenya would keep pushing and after 33 minutes after having gone behind Harambee Stars got rewarded when Olunga pounced on a loss ball to fire in for the equalizer for Kenya.
Hardly after celebration Kenya found themselves behind yet again a costly mistake by Owino and keeper Matasi at the Harambee Stars defence would gift Samatta an easy goal restoring Taifa Stars lead.
On resumption Stars looked more convincing and attacking, thier search for an equalizer came in the 66th minute,Johanna Omollo rose high heading in from Eric Ouma’s delivery. Coach Sebastian Minge would then withdraw Omar Aboud for Erick Omondi a move that completely changed and upped the tempo ,Omondi made a good run in finding Olunga who upon turning took a long range in shot right into the back of the net for Harambee Stars win.
Kenya now sits second in group C and stands a chance of proceeding into the knockout stages.
