2006 Kenya Premier league champions Sony Sugar have changed their name to South Nyanza Football Club (SoNy FC) ahead of the anticipated sponsorship deal .
Sony Sugar FC owned by troubled Sony Sugar Company has been facing serious financial problems that have led to close to 8 of their top players leave due to lack of payment .
Their is light at the end of the Tunnel after the company agreed to bring on board sponsors on condition that the club changes name .This means the club will not be directly under the companies administration
Giant media company Star times ,Betting firm Betin and another two unnamed companies are all eyeing the deal that could ultimately give the Awendo based club a new lease of life .
A source that sokafrika.com can’t reveal now States that Star times have tabled a 30million year sponsorship deal and could be unveiled this wednesday in Awendo .
Those who have left the club are Derrick Otanga ,Joshua Nyatini ,Kevin Omondi all to Wazito ,Tobias Otieno to Gor Mahia with Samuel Njau ,Abdalla Chamberi Wankuru and Kelvin Wesonga all to Western Stima
