Coach Butler ready for real task as Liberia battle Sierra Leone today

The Lone Star of Liberia have promised a full combat battle as they take on the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in the preliminary round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier tie at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Staduim in Paynesville today.

New Lone Star English coach Peter James Butler said yesterday that his side will deliver in its full potential possible, regardless of the notable miss of some key first team players, including sturdy, Al-Fujairah Striker and Current Liberia National team top Scorer William Jebor,Mamelodi Sundown wingerAnthony Slothi Laffor and Energetik-BGU Minsk potential defender Eugene Swen.

Butler, who temporarily hired former Lone Star and Arsenal forward Christopher Wreh, former Lone Star defender George Gebro and former goalkeeper Sunday seah as part of his technical staffs is confident of a win against the Leone Star in his first match with the Liberia National team. Coach Butler, said: “We are not ready to concede defeat tomorrow (today), because we are fully aware that any result here would stand out,our chances of qualifying to the next round of the qualifier and this is our target.

“We believe everyone in the squad is fighting for the first team assurance. Tomorrow (today) will be an opportunity for them to prove their quality, there are lot of young players who is promising. “We are sure that they will go for the kill.
He refute to underrated the Leone Star, Liberia closes neighbor’s, “that is why they came with mostly a make shift squad. “We’ll never underrate any team in the world. We take this match very important to us , despite the record and any match as serious as possible.

“We are not ready get eliminated at an early stage of this competition with cheap defeat. That is not our policy and target,” he stressed.
He further said: “We are going to put a very serious opposition. We know very well the strength of the team we will be facing. Sierra Leone is a good team in Africa; and we are prepared well to face them.

The former West Ham United midfielder also expressed optimism about the mouthwatering and eye watching Clash with Sierra Leone., the Englisman who was recently appointed by the Liberia Football Association as head coach of the Lone Star, has a one year contract length and mandate is to qualify Liberia for the 2021 Africa Cup of nations and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Meanwhile , coach Peter Butler has named Real Salt Lake forward Sam Johnson as captain of the team in the absence of regular skipper William Jebor , who will miss the crucial encounter due to personal reason , the former Botswana and Platimun Star coach have however named 20 man squad for the game , he called up eleven professionals and nine local base players for the match.

There is No place for experience forward Anthony laffor of Mamelodi sundown, because of injury and Spanish born goalkeeper Boison wynney of Doxa Dramas is left out due to coach decision, but there could be debut for Swedish born Seth Hellberg of Ik Brage who is invited for the first time.

Sierra Leone on their part have named 15- oversea players for the decisive encounter and the Leone star will be led by experience Colorado Rapid forward kei Kamara and FC Zurich defender umaru Bangura, under the watchful eyes of Ghanian tactician Sellas Tetteh Teivi, whose just return to the fold as head coach of the Sierra Leone National team for the Second time.

The Leone Star is currently camped at the Millennium Guest House a local Hotel in Monrovia awaiting the first leg kickoff at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Staduim at 6:00pm Liberian time, the return leg fixture of this match is in four days time at the siaka Steven Stadium in Freetown, Sierra Leone on September 8.
