Madagascar becomes the latest and the second country after Zambia to call off a friendly match with South Africa due to xenophobia.
Initially South African Football Federation (SAFA ) had requested for a friendly match with Madagascar Football national team and Federation of Madagascar Football had agreed in principle that it will help them prepare for upcoming AFCON and World Cup qualifiers.
However, after consulting several national Institutions mainly the security department, the Federation decided to Call off the friendly taking into account the life of Madagascar nationals living and working in South Africa.
In a statement released yesterday in the evening the Federation of Madagascar Football apologized to to SAFA and the public for not honoring the request.
The federation said that the players will return to their respective clubs after the international break.
