El- Ahly ,the most ever club winning the CL Title, have reached the group-stage of the 2019/20 CAF CL after thrashing Cano Sport 6-0 on aggregate.
The Reds had won 2-0 in Malabo Equatorial Guinea, thanks to strikes from Salah Mohsen and Walid Soliman, before hosting Cano Sport at Borg El-Arab on Saturday.
Ahly did more than a draw match which was enough for qualifying by winning 4-0.
It didn’t take the hosts long to open the score line as after eight minutes only, Aliou Dieng managed to score his first goal for El Ahly on his first-ever start for the club after a scramble inside the box.
El Ahly settled for the 1-0 lead at half-time, before adding another one just three minutes after the restart through Junior Ajayi.
In the 54th minute, Hussein El-Shahat took his tally to four goals in this year’s CAF Champions League when he received a low cross from Ahmed Fathi, before smartly finding the net.
Substitute Salah Mohsen nearly added the fourth when he went through on goal and dribbled past the goalkeeper, but his shot hit the post.
However, two minutes before the full-time whistle, Mohsen managed to add his name on the score sheet after tapping in El-Shahat’s pass inside the six-yard box.
Cano Sport’s first dangerous chance of the game came in the 91st minute when Benjamín Ndoho found himself through on goal, but his shot hit El-Ahly’s bar.
The victory means that El Ahly have reached the CAF Champions League group-stage for the 17th time in their history, more times than any other club.
