Tanzania became the first nation to qualify for the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) after scoring twice in the second half to successfully complete a comeback on a away goals in Khartoum on Friday.
Sudan had led the tie heading into the second leg after their 1-0 triumph in Dar Es Salam in the first leg and Zdravko Logarusic drilled side were seemingly set for qualification as a Ahmed Mohamed Adam strike sent them leading 1-0 on the night and 2-0 on aggregate at half-time.
However, the Taifa Stars leveled up matters in the 50th minute through experienced defender Erasto Nyoni who struck beautifully from a free-kick before Ditram Nchimbi turned in Selemani Iddi’s well-worked cross in 78th minute to qualify the nation to its first CHAN tournament since the inaugural edition in 2009.
