Former Olympic marseille president and the first African to be the President of a top European club Mababa Pape Diouf died in Dakar Senegal after contracting the deadly pandemic Corona Virus yesterday.
Tragic news of Pape Diouf’s death were reported by Senegalese National television and confirmed by his relatives on Tuesday.
Pape Diouf was born in 1951 in Chad by Senegalese parents who later moved back and raised him in their native homeland Senegal.
Pape moved to France in 1969 to study and after studies he became a sports journalist working closely with Olympic marseille. He later became an agent representing a number of famous players such as Cameroonian goalkeeper Joseph Antoine Bell,Basile Boli, Marshal Desailly Didier Drogba, William Ghalas ,Sami Nasri and many others.
While serving as CEO in 2005 ,Pape Diouf was named the president of Olympic Marseille a position he held till June 2009.
By the time of his death he had returned to Senegal to stay with his family .
His former club has already come up with Condolences messages that reads ” Olympic marseille learned the great Sadness of the death of Pape Diouf” . And the Statement goes on to say ” Pape will remain forever in the hearts of Marseillais as one of the greatest craftsmen of the history of the club ”
